Review of The Elephant(s) in the Room
One sunny morning, when Sammy the Weasel (aka STW) was enjoying his afternoon snacks, his friend, Kramer the dog, came rushing to him. Why? Because Kramer suspected that there was an elephant in the house! Sammy was doubtful of his friend's story, but he donned his official detective gear and headed to investigate the home with him. What follows is a hilarious story that will appeal to both children and their parents.
The Elephant(s) in the Room by Denny Laake and Monica Laake Beavers is a children's book about friendship, loyalty, bravery, and patience. Through the beautifully created characters, the authors emphasize the importance of critical thinking and keen observation. As should be the case with children's books, the life lessons are subtle, making it an entertaining and educational story. The length of the book is perfect for children's shorter attention spans. Both characters are adorable in their own way. Sammy is so overconfident that he misses the most obvious clues while searching the house. Despite being a little hesitant and doubtful of his own abilities, Kramer is the more attentive of the two. He notices the wall shaking and furniture moving without reason while Sammy struts past the clues.
The illustrations, done by Monica Laake Breavers, are the best part of the book. They reveal the truth to the readers while Sammy investigates. The way he misses all the clues with utmost confidence is hilarious. Another notable aspect is the precise vocabulary. The editing is flawless, with no errors. There is nothing I dislike about this book, and it deserves the perfect score of 5 out of 5.
I highly recommend this book to parents as well as educators. It is short, entertaining, and imaginative. It will be a perfect book for an afternoon activity or bedtime story. Children will be able to relate to both Sammy and Kramer.

RJ, this sounds like such a cute book! I could definitely see getting this for my daughter's littles! Your description made it feel like such a fun read, and I could just hear kids pointing out those more apparent clues! Great job on this review; I enjoyed it very much. Until next time...RJ Reviews wrote: ↑16 Jan 2024, 23:26 [Following is a volunteer review of "The Elephant(s) in the Room" by Denny Laake and Monica Laake Beavers.]
