The very first page of the book contains a quote by the author that says, “Father, it’s never too late to read to your daughters.” It was so heartwarming that I knew that the rest of the book would be a treat to read to children, and it most definitely was! Stevie Tenderheart Books A Second Kiss Goodnight (A Bedtime Story) by Steve William Laible is a lovely book that is perfect for bedtime story sessions.

The book is wonderfully written, with child-like whimsy brimming in the prose, encouraging the inherent innocent creativity to grow in children. The book follows a child named Stevie Tenderheart, who receives kisses from a variety of animals right before bed. There is a great exploration of animal behaviours and their nature, which will definitely expand the knowledge of children. The different animals are written about very entertainingly.

There was nothing that I disliked about this book. While there is no overarching theme that one can usually find in children’s books, such as kindness or morality, I think the book is still a great and fun read. I did not find any typos or grammatical errors, and the editing was definitely professional and well-executed.

The book is a little longer than most children’s books, but I think that that makes it easy for busy parents to read one or two paragraphs per night. The book is well-written and accessible for very young age groups as well.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars, as it was a fun, innocent, and hilarious adventure. There is something very comforting about simple children’s books.

I would recommend this book to parents looking to read bedtime stories to their children. As I mentioned, they can also read bits and pieces, making both their job easier and their child happy.
