Review of Roarasaurus
We have heard of how toys act out of place and begin to behave weirdly and fearfully. A similar thing happened in this book. Roarasaurus is a children’s book by Great-aunt Rita (and she really is GREAT!) with lots of help from Jake and Elina Farber and illustrated by Mike Sofka.
As Jake celebrates his birthday, his aunt, Great-Aunt Rita, decides to go to the store to get a gift for him. Among various other toys she finds in the store, she gets attracted to a big dinosaur, and she takes it. As she tried to pay, the store owner told her that the toy was a special one as it could walk and talk. Great-Aunt Rita bought it and took it to Jake, who loved it. However, the toy refused to work until Great-Aunt Rita followed the instructions. The twist comes when the toy not only starts walking and talking but also destroys things in the process. How does it all end? Grab a copy of this book to find out.
The author grabbed my attention with the title and the quality and colourful book cover that the book has. It was only after reading the book that I found out how the title came about. Each page is also filled with inviting illustrations that make reading fun.
The book was entertaining. I could not help but imagine how Jake and his mother felt as the toys were scattered around the house. They must have been so terrified, and I could not help but laugh when Jake rejected the second toy he got. The book was educational. The advice after that shows that one needs to observe events well before judging or making a decision.
There was nothing to dislike about this book. It was concise and did not contain unnecessary details. It was fun, entertaining, and educational. The book was also exceptionally well edited, as I found no errors while reading. Therefore, I rate this book five out of five stars.
I recommend this book to children ages 3 to 6. Parents can also read it as bedtime stories to younger children.
