The children’s book, “Will You Talk to Me? A Story about the Hummingbird and His Wisdom,” by Margie Carstens, caught me by surprise. It is beautifully illustrated with bright and vibrant colors on every page, clearly and delightfully following along with the story about a girl and a hummingbird. The illustrations and the story will surely keep a child focused and eager to continue reading to see what happens next. After finishing the book, I give it a five star rating.
A few of the parts of the book that caught my eye and attention, resulting in a perfect rating, would not only include the illustrations aspect of the book, but also the story and the lesson behind that story. The book uses imagination, as well as including some educational points in relation to hummingbirds and life in general. In my opinion, this book could easily resonate with most of us.
I truly connected with the story in this book. I don’t think that this book is solely just for children. I feel that every parent should read this book to their child, not only for their child to learn their true worth and value, but also for the parents to be reminded of that for themselves. We are all sometimes struggling in one way or another, and sometimes we just need that little reassurance, reminder, and inspiration, which this book definitely brings, even if it is from a little hummingbird.
The hummingbird’s wisdom, as stated in the subtitle of this book, is a sweet touch to the story and makes it that much more fun and interesting to read. How is something so small, so wise and captivating? We learn and grow through experience and realization that we are all different, yet very valuable whether or not those around us see that. This book has a valuable lesson for all of us to learn and remember, and including such information in a children’s book will hopefully help our children grow and learn to become strong, independent, and happy.
