“Spiker the Jumping Spider Learns about Joy: Joy is a Fruit of the Spirit” by J. M. Ashmore is an educational children’s book that teaches the importance of having joy as a virtue. Spiker is a jumping spider who makes strong, silky web strings while playing with Crispin, his cricket friend.

This book teaches children to be their incredible, unique selves, as Spiker could churn silky strings while Crispin makes chirping sounds by rubbing his wings together. Spiker encourages Crispin to be glad and happy despite the thunderstorm. They were still able to play a new, interesting game while sheltering them from the rain under a bird’s nest. To find out the best way to have joy, get a copy of this book.

Spiker taught Crispin the importance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone as they went to search for food in new places. I admire Spiker’s positive outlook towards life and how he comforted Sully, the light-blue spider who wished to have Spiker and Crispin’s jumping abilities, and Gerry, the grasshopper who bumped his knee.

I loved the rich illustrations given, as they make it more engaging for the reader. Again, the moral lessons learned make it ideal for growing kids. With the questions and answers at the end of the book, I’m certain that children who pay attention to these stories will effortlessly answer these questions.

I didn’t find anything to dislike about this book. I learned a lot of lessons from it, even as an adult. Again, I found no errors while reading, and I’ll give “Spiker the Jumping Spider Learns about Joy: Joy is a Fruit of the Spirit" a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend it to children between the ages of 3 and 7, as it teaches a lot of lessons about joy and stepping out of our comfort zones.
