Review of Stevie Tenderheart Books - Billy Jack (The Great Escape)
One thing every kid hates, and as kids, we all used to hate, is being sent to bed early by their parents and forced to sleep. In Steve William Laible's delightful children's book, Stevie Tenderheart Books - Billy Jack (The Great Escape), a little boy named Billy Jack also feels the same. He thinks his parents are selfish because they are not letting him play outside with his friends and have sent him to bed to sleep, even though there is still daylight outside. But the kid didn't put aside his desire to play until it's dark. He made a master plan to escape in the dark through his window after receiving bedtime kisses from his parents. He made sure that he didn't leave any evidence so that his sneakiness wouldn't be discovered by his parents. After sneaking out, Billy comes to know the consequences of his actions. To know what happens during this little mischievous boy's adventure, you have to go on the adventure along with him by reading this book.
I genuinely adore this book. As an adult, I find it so humorous, delightful, and engaging. However, if I were to go back in time to when I was a kid, I would definitely relate myself to Billy Jack. Even back then, I didn't like going to bed early and used to think like Billy. But Billy is ahead because he transformed his thoughts into actions. I appreciate the author for the way he presented Billy's character, as it is relatable to every child. The book also gives a valuable lesson on why it is important to listen to parents. The writing style, the narration, and the use of simple vocabulary make it easy for children to grasp. Giving meanings to the vocabulary is another highlight of the book.
There is absolutely nothing to dislike about this book. No errors were found in this book. It is exceptionally edited. There is not even minor profanity in this book. Keeping all of these highlights in mind, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. I would highly recommend this book as a delightful bedtime read to children between 5 to 10.
