Unlike the kind of superhero we are accustomed to, Toni is a character who does extraordinary things. This book by R.D. Base gives children a walk through Toni’s daily activities. The book essentially teaches little children how to read and construct simple sentences.

I really enjoyed reading it. The author’s aim in writing the book was fulfilled, as I’m sure children’s vocabulary would increase after reading. The book used bright and colorful images, each showing Toni performing his activities. These images would immediately captivate little children. The sentences had a common verb, ‘likes,’ so the book talked about the several likes of Toni, not as a superhero but as an ordinary person. The book was very brief, containing a few spaced-out sentences. It would increase the readability and comprehension of children.

I liked that the author dived straight into the slides to ensure the details were passed successfully to readers. It also created an opportunity for children to learn and adopt positive characters. It encourages reading and helping out with household activities. It was impressive that while we expected Toni to be someone with actual superpowers, his versatile abilities and interests showed similarities. In this sense, he was referred to as a superhero because he does super things.

There was no negative aspect I found while reading. The language used was basic and easy for children to understand. I love the pictorial illustration of Toni while he performed the activities that interested him. It would pose a lot of fun and interest to children. The book was thoroughly edited, and I believe Base aimed to ensure the right message was delivered to children.

Toni the Superhero is meant for children aged 0–5 years. Like any good children’s book, there was neither profanity nor sexual content. I, therefore, give it a solid 5 out of 5 stars.

I highly recommend "Toni the Superhero" for its positive message and engaging storyline. The book shows that being a hero isn't just about having superpowers—it's about being kind, helpful, and active.
