Stevie Tenderheart Books – Billy Jack (The Great Escape) by Steve William Laible is about a wonderful boy, Billy, who, like any boy of his age, likes to play, have fun, and enjoy his day. There is just one problem: his parents want him in bed while the sun is still bright and shining, which seems a bit exaggerated. However, through numerous plans and logical ambitions, Billy can trick his parents and go to his friends but soon understands why his parents make him go to bed so early and how wrong he was to contradict this habit.

I have to say that this book, even though it is designed for children, was quite fun to read. The numerous plans created by Billy managed to get a giggle out of me, and the obstacles and lessons he learns while escaping his bedtime are exciting and creative. Also, to demystify such a complicated issue for any parent in such a light and entertaining way is commendable and shows how talented an author must be to write a book in this genre.

Imagination and curiosity reign in this narrative, and with a simple and flowy writing style, the author creates an incredible adventure full of teachings and an overall light read that can be assured to make children and parents laugh and end their day on a positive note.

I couldn’t find a single downside to this book. The book is well-written, the editing is spectacular, and I found this book to be much more interesting and educational than I thought it would be. Therefore, I attribute 5 out of 5 stars to this book.

I can only say good things about this book, and I would recommend it to any parent who is either having trouble with their kid's bedtime and wants them to understand their reasonings or, overall, to any kid who is into literature and can benefit from this light read before going to sleep.
