Mommy is worried by the unpleasant odor in the house, especially considering that their house always smells nice, thanks to their strict adherence to sanitation protocol. That means something must be wrong somewhere, so it's just a question of figuring out what it is. Soon, Mommy calls to her children and examines them for any clues, but nothing foul is found. Not long after this, Daddy wakes up and joins in the search to discover the offensive element.

Could it be the trash, a rotten beet, Scarlett's diaper, Marilyn's breath and armpits, fish, a skunk inside a toy's trunk, something dunked in the milk, dirty clothes, a snotty nose, or dirty toes? What exactly is it, and why is the cause of this offensive smell still elusive? But then Daddy, Mommy, and the kids are not ready to give up in their search. The readers will be as astonished as Daddy, Mommy, and the kids when the true cause of this offensive odor is identified!

The Mysterious Smell That Didn't Sit So Well is a children's story written by Deonna Baney. The story is quite simple and takes readers on a suspenseful journey to find the troublesome smell that has made the house too uncomfortable to stay in. The narrative is gripping and engaging, which draws the readers into the characters' feelings of positivity upon each idea of a prospective source and the frustrations that follow when an idea doesn't produce any result.

A deeper study of this story reveals the importance of a clean environment and the risks and discomforts associated with a dirty environment. The confusion, the intensity of the situation, and the relief that followed when the issue was fixed all teach children that it's far better and safer to be neat and ensure that their homes and surroundings are always clean. The book was thoroughly edited. I didn't dislike anything in this book, so I rate it five out of five stars for its message on cleanliness and the amazing illustrations. The Mysterious Smell That Didn't Sit So Well is recommended to audiences within the age bracket of babies and twelve.
