It's beach time with Rylie and Ricki

Post by Charmaine Mahlangu »

This is our younger version of health and safety officers or more or less our life guards. Shari Young demonstrates to kids the importance of water safety in a dramatic and interesting way. Sharing this with my daughter was a charm. The illustrations did all the work.

Rylie who happens to be a dolphin is a good friend of Ricki. They spend time together mostly searching the waves on sea. This has made little girl Ricki to explore swimming lessons and also encourages others to do so as a survival skill in the future. Even though she can swim on her own , it is also advised that kids should not swim without the parents assistance especially at sea.

While at sea important safety protocols were highlighted. 1) Drink lots of water. It is important to stay hydrated in the sun especially on a hot weather . 2)Use sunscreen. Using sunscreen will protect kids and their families from the sun's harmful rays. 3) Never feed the seagulls. 4)Bring a garbage bag .This is to put all the things that need to be put in a bin instead of littering. 5)Don't shake your sandy towel near others. As you know this will cause trouble for anyone with their eyes open.

Ricki swims to the ocean and to her surprise Rylie is no where to be found. She starts yelling her name across the ocean but Ricki's dad came to the rescue. To their surprise Rylie had turned red due to lack of blood circulation. A plastic object was stuck on his beak . Dad came to the rescue.

This is a good book . The illustrations were amazing almost movie like. Such effort in drawings and colour was taken to consideration while the book was compiled. Perfectvediting skills too. A 5 out of 5 for this compilation. Even my 3 year old daughter loved seeing the pages. It is important that kids and adults understand that the life on the sea is important and littering on the beach is harmful to them
