Toni the Superhero

By R. D. Base
Illustrated by Debbie Hefke

This book is about a little boy named Toni and everything he likes to do, especially being a superhero. Each page is delightfully illustrated, with bright colors that pop off the page. It is a perfect book to use as a stepping stone from reading to your child to them reading to you.

This book reminds me of a series I grew up reading many years ago, "See Dick and Jane Run". They played a major role in my learning to read, and I hold them as a favorite childhood memory. I would read them over and over again. And that is why I would be confident in recommending this book. I predict the same sentimental feeling will happen between this book and your kids. I applaud the illustrator, as each page is eye-candy to a child. I especially love the second page. The colors pop off each page. To tell the truth, that is what caught my attention first, and then the content: its educational value.

What I liked best was the book's theme. It is not just about reading. The book not only teaches children to read but also encourages them to do good deeds, to be helpful, and to be active. It will instill positive values in your child.

I did not dislike anything about this book. Not one thing. There were no editing issues, controversial content, violence, or bad behavior. It is simply a sweet, fun book for small children.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. There was not one thing I found wrong that warranted my deducting any stars. The words are appropriate, the illustrations are appealing, and the editing is perfect. I recommend this book to any parent of small children.
