One faithful day, six kittens walk into farmer Beau's farm. They were heartily welcomed. One after the other, they left. Only one of them decided to make the farm her home. She was named Kailey by farmer Beau and his wife Bamma. They prepared a comfortable room for her on the farm. One day, kailey found a bunny named Sammy wandering in the farm. Just like kailey, she was given a home in the farm. Farmer Beau and Bamma took good care of them. One day, they overheard farmer Beau and Bamma talking about bringing a new strange animal to the farm. They anticipated its arrival with curiosity and fear.

Farmer Beau's Farm by Kathleen Geiger is a story about family. In a simple and child friendly tone, the author sheds light on some very pertinent issues such as family, adoption, bullying and love. Farmer Beau and Bamma showered kailey and her friends with lots of love. It is the kind of love parents show their children. The way kailey and Sammy reacted to the news of a new sibling was very familiar. Their fears and curiosity are emotions most people would have understand similar circumstances. I love the way the author tackled the issue of bullying. It was shown for what it is, a nasty act that lives its victims hurt. She also showed that love is better than hate.

The characters were well developed. Each character represents a typical human being. Though most of the characters were animals, they had very peculiar human traits. Kailey and Sammy for instance represent your typical toddlers. Their fears and curiosity on the arrival of a new family member is typical of toddlers waiting for a new sibling. Most parents would find reading and discussing this book with their children very engaging.

Kathleen Geiger stroke a perfect balance between pictures and narrative in this book. They were just as many pages with brightly colored illustrations as they were with just words. The pictures were beautiful and and brightly colored. They gave life to the story. The choice of words were perfect. The words were simple. Young children who easily understand the story.

I found no grammatical errors. The book seemed to have been professionally edited. The story flowed smoothly. Though the story was not long, it still had a couple of twists and turns. There were times I was really anxious to find out what happens next. For a short children's book, I thought it was great.

I would rate Farmer Beau's Farm by Kathleen Geiger 4 out of 4 stars. The story was educative and interesting. I would recommend it to everyone. Parents and children would learn a thing or two from this short story.
