Farmer Beau's Farm is a children's book written by Kathleen Geiger and illustrated by Adam Musk. The book was first published by Dog Ear Publishing in 2016. The book is a work of fiction that follows the adventures of farmer Beau and the exciting animals he takes in on his farm.
Farmer Beau and his wife Bamma always enjoy sitting on the patio watching nature. One day they discover six little kittens playing outside. They are enthralled by the kittens, but they realize that they will soon leave. When one of the kittens decides to stay on the farm, farmer Beau and Bamma create a little stall for the kitten and name her Kailey Kitten. Kailey soon makes the farm her new home . One day when Kailey is outside, she discovers a fluffy animal unlike a kitty and she makes a new friend, Sammy Bunny. Sammy and Kailey become great friends and enjoy each other and the farm, but they overhear farmer Beau and Bamma make plans for a new addition to the farm. Sammy and Kailey discover that this is no ordinary farm when farmer Beau and Bamma take in a strange looking animal. Sammy and Kailey are afraid that this choice will make farmer Beau a pariah, but they come to love the differences when they meet the strange animal. What is this strange new animal that farmer Beau and Bamma have taken in? What does this book teach? Will the new animal remain on the farm? All these questions will be answered in this amazing book.
The main theme I encountered in this book was friendship. Farmer Beau and his wife are quick to make friends and to take in all kinds of animals. Kailey Kitten learns to make friends with Sammy Bunny and then the strange new animal. Friendship is the theme that drives this story. The other themes I encountered in this book were: love, curiosity and acceptance. The author uses these themes masterfully to not only make the characters interesting, but to also make the plot memorable.
The character development in this book was written masterfully. The author uses farmer Beau, his wife Bamma, Kailey, Sammy and the strange new animal to drive this story. We can see that not all the animals are happy to be staying at the farm. Kailey is happy with a new home, Sammy has to be welcomed by his new friend and the strange new animal is not happy to be staying at the farm. The book drives excellent lessons on friendship and acceptance.
I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. This is because I found the story very interesting and the lessons the book offered, amazing. There were no spelling mistakes and the illustrations were used to make the story lively and to captivate and maintain the attention of children. I would never change anything in this book and I found myself comparing this book to Puffy and the Formidable Foe by Marie Lepkowski.
I would recommend this book to all children because it is has an amazing story with excellent life lessons within. The author wrote a masterpiece and I would love to read more of the author's writing.
