Toni is a young boy, but he is also a superhero! When he is not doing superhero work, he does the same things as other kids, like reading, playing with his friends, and drawing. He also helps his family with chores and helps rescue animals. Through Toni the Superhero by R.D. Base, children can learn that you can be a superhero at any age.

The book shows Toni helping his family with cleaning and other household chores. Reading this to kids and showing them Toni's behavior is a good way to introduce children to helping around the house. The book also illustrates Toni playing nicely with his friends on the playground, keeping a clean room, and eating healthy food. All these things make this a great book for kids to learn good habits. As kids read this book, they can do the same things as Tony and be a superhero too! The book also makes those tasks look fun.

At the beginning of the book, I questioned whether Toni was a superhero with magical powers, or if he was just called a superhero for being a good kid. The text does not specify, but the illustrations indicate he can fly. His family and friends appear to be everyday people which may encourage children to be friends with everyone.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I did not find any editing errors. The illustrations are colorful and eye-catching without being too bright or gaudy. The text is simple and easy to read. The book is just long enough that young children can be engaged without getting bored. The author’s idea to repeat words to assist children in learning to read is brilliant! I also appreciate the diversity in the book.

This is a great book for young children who are just beginning to learn letters and words. I would especially recommend this book for young boys who may enjoy a relatable superhero they can look up to.
