"Binnie and the Glitter Guitar" by Michael Wuehler tells the story of Quinn, a girl who dreams of becoming a superstar guitarist. Her constant daydreams affect her focus during class, making it especially difficult to pay attention in math class. Her life takes a turn when she discovers the most beautiful guitar she has ever seen. Although the story discusses the activities Quinn engages in, the author did well to make them interesting for the reader. There were many different scenes, each captivating in its own way, which kept me engaged. Whether Quinn was playing soccer, visiting Mr. Apapa's shop, or practicing her song with a friend, there was always something that kept me wanting to follow along. My favorite part of the book was when a skunk disrupted their soccer game. I was already enjoying the game, and then the skunk made it even more interesting. This is a book children are sure to enjoy.

The book had numerous standout features. The pacing, as I might have implied, was a highlight, with every scene holding something captivating. The story flowed smoothly, and there were no boring moments. It's rare not to find at least one part of a fictional book that isn't boring, but this book kept my interest throughout. It was well-edited, too. I also appreciated the simplicity of the story. It's challenging to create a story that isn't complex yet still grabs the reader's attention throughout, but this book succeeded in that regard. While the story itself wasn't complicated, it remained engaging. This is exactly what you would expect from a good children's book, and this one did not disappoint. The illustrations also helped visualize what was going on, enhancing the overall experience. The author's use of humor in the story was also well executed. Many funny moments felt completely natural and realistic without being overly forced. The skunk scene was particularly humorous, and Kilo's antics always brought a smile to my face. Other moments even made me laugh out loud.

The only thing I think could have made it better was if there were songs included for kids to play along with. Since it's a children's book centered around music, I expected some songs to be integrated. However, this didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book. It's very well-written, and aside from that suggestion, I can't find anything wrong with it. Therefore, I'm giving it a rating of five out of five. Children who can read small books on their own will benefit greatly from this one.
