Another in the Sammy the Weasel stories, this one checks into whether there are elephants in the room and they proceed to look through the entire house. Sammy and his friend, the dog Kramer, go to check the house where Kramer believes there is an elephant but Sammy says it is probably a mouse. As the two travel through the house, we can clearly see elephants and Kramer obviously detects elephants but Sammy is not as keen an observer. The illustrations are very whimsical and match the story extremely well. They are a subdued type of illustration that match well with an elephant story and the search of a regular house. The electronic version of the story has muted colors in contrast to many children’s books that have very bright and vibrant colors. This book in the Sammy series is called, The Elephant(s) in the Room: Another Sammy the Weasel Story written by Denny Laake and Monica Laake Beavers, illustrated by Monica Laake Beavers.

This is a great children’s book. Younger children will love the story and the pictures. Children who can already read can easily read it to their younger siblings. A bonus in the electronic version is that you can touch any of the pages and a close-up of that portion of the page shows up. Younger children love that and they call out to Sammy that the elephant is, ‘Right there!” Of course, the pages can be turned easily one after the other with a different touch of the screen. It is quite a good book for older siblings to read to younger children. The words used are simple and straightforward. The story develops just as you might expect as Sammy insists there is a mouse while everyone else can plainly see the truth.

I found nothing to dislike in this book. If you don’t like dogs, elephants or weasels please get a different book.

I recommend it to all parents with children under six years of age. Older children will still enjoy the book by reading it with younger siblings. I would also recommend this book as a gift for anyone who loves children’s books or elephants.

I noticed no errors in this book and it is utterly delightful. I rate this book four out of four stars and believe it to be extremely engaging for children and adults alike.
