Review of Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids
Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids is a children’s storybook that follows the journey of Emma and Bella, two sisters who learn about heaven through a series of dreams that Emma has each night. Each day, Emma shares her dreams with her family, and they discover the meaning behind her dreams together.
This book is exceptionally well-written! It accomplishes its task of describing heaven, an important aspect of the Christian faith, in a way that is in line with what Christians are taught by the Bible. The authors do a great job of portraying the deeper meaning of this book in a way that is understandable and appreciable to children. Each scene is written in a way that encompasses childlike wonder in its entirety, and this is important in creating the curious atmosphere that the authors have envisioned portraying. Another critical component of this book is the pictures that are used on each page. Each picture has been drawn to show exactly what the author describes on the previous page, and this is essential to the enjoyment of the book! This book teaches children about Christianity, and the art used throughout the story is an element that really enhances the meaning behind the author’s intent. This book does a great job of accomplishing its task of describing heaven and the perks of being able to go to heaven.
My only critique is that the authors intend to spread the word of Jesus in order to be able to attain access to heaven, and while this is a lesson that can be taught by those who wish to teach it, it would be nice if the authors were to include what “spreading the word of Jesus” entails. This could include actions or morals that one should follow in order to embody these principles instead of just portraying the benefits of heaven and what would happen if one did not go to heaven. The inclusion of the portrayal of hell is good in that it allows the reader to understand the different important elements of Christianity, but it feels as if it is included to be more of a threat to those who do not choose to follow Christianity rather than just portraying this important part of the religion.
Overall, I would give this book a 5 out of 5. There are no errors in grammar, and the overall story is written in a way that is well-suited to the purpose of the book. There are no instances of profanity or sexual content. Since this book is written to teach children about Christianity, I would recommend it to an audience open to reading about religious materials.
