Review of Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids
How would you feel if you went to heaven in your dreams? How would your reaction be when you saw those lovely gardens, the attractive surroundings, the wonderful angels, and, above all, Jesus Himself? I believe one would feel immensely good upon visiting heaven, as did Emma in the book "Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids." This is a stunning and imaginative book that kids and parents will love. Written by Jemima Paul and Arvind Paul, it tells the story of Emma, their eight-year-old daughter, who has amazing dreams about heaven.
The story begins with Emma and her younger sister, Bella, being lovingly taught about God by their parents. One night, Emma has an amazing dream where she and Bella are taken to heaven by angels. This dream is just the beginning of their incredible adventures.
As the dreams about going to heaven keep recurring, Emma and her family have a good session after each dream, wherein Emma describes her dream experiences to them. The authors have described them wonderfully in the book.
Some instances of Emma’s dreams include that of being carried by angels through the clouds or Emma's description of heaven itself, wherein she talks about seeing a golden house and streets of gold. She describes how Jesus and God look, where Jesus is wearing a white robe with a red belt-like thing and God is wearing a red robe with a white belt-like thing.
Moreover, the book also offers a serious look at hell, providing a contrast to the heavenly dreams. Emma's dream of hell is depicted as a dark and frightening place, filled with fire, sadness, and despair. This part of the story is particularly impactful as it contrasts sharply with the beauty and joy of heaven, emphasizing the importance of making good choices and understanding the consequences of one's actions.
The fact that all of Emma’s descriptions align perfectly with biblical descriptions was fascinating. For instance, when Emma sees animals in heaven and notes how they all get along, it is a direct reference to the peace described in Isaiah 11:6. I liked how the biblical verses have been included throughout the book, along with footnotes that quote where they appear in the Bible. This way, parents can teach their children about faith and spirituality in an interactive way.
Furthermore, I adored how the recurring theme of love and obedience to God is gently woven throughout the book. Emma’s reflections on what her dreams might mean for her and her sister’s lives serve as subtle yet powerful lessons for young readers. And let’s not forget the full-page, colorful illustrations that aligned so beautifully with the story. It made imagining the scenes so easy. I absolutely loved the illustrations. I can say they’re one of the best ones I have seen lately.
Thus, considering my immense admiration for the book, which is clearly reflected above, I rate this book a deserving 5 out of 5 stars. It has also been impeccably edited. I did not dislike a single thing about the book.
In conclusion, "Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids" is an enriching book. It is a must-read for children and their parents, as it will spark the imagination and touch the hearts of all who read it.
