Review of Binnie and the Glitter Guitar
Binnie and the Glitter Guitar Michael Wuehler is a fast-paced narrative that captures your attention from beginning to end. The author delves into intriguing themes such as friendship, competition, and resilience. Miss Quinn is a young girl who lives happily with her family. At school, she finds it very hard to keep up with Mrs. John's classes but finds solace in playing her guitar. Luckily, fate unites her with Lian, with whom they quickly form a strong relationship. Their bond is characterized by common interests in sports, the desire to master the guitar, and genuineness. After extending their friendship beyond school, they learn that there are differences between them too. Will their friendship stand the test of time?
While visiting Mr. Apapa's shop, Quinn lands her eyes on a masterpiece that fully captivates her. To acquire it, she must compete against other contestants in a stiff competition. Moreover, her encounter with Mr. Sung challenges her and she begins practicing for the big day immediately. She shares the news with her best friend, only to unveil the biggest threat as far as her dreams are concerned. However, the two girls work together, cheering and encouraging each other, showcasing genuine love and openness. The collaboration between the two girls is depicted during their match against the Butter Cups. The big day finally arrives, the stage is set, the adrenaline is high, and the girls are present. Who will take the grand prize home? I invite you to find out.
There are a lot of lessons one can learn from this story. First, the concept of selflessness is explored here. Although Quinn is threatened by Lian's prowess, she does not view her as an enemy. Second, Lian encourages Quinn to pursue her dreams amidst very tough competition, this teaches us something about our choices of friends. Third, parents learn about the significance of showing up and supporting their children in their activities just like both parents did. The way Lian's father stood by her side during the competition left me in sheer admiration. Lastly, Quinn's family is very warm and welcoming, they made Lian fit in very easily.
There are several things I like about this book. The vivid descriptions and imagery used by the author give the reader a sensation akin to witnessing these events firsthand. Additionally, the inclusion of vibrant pictures enhances this book's appeal. Moreover, the book has an easy storyline, giving the reader a flawless reading experience. Lastly, the book's concise nature and satisfactory end make it my favorite read.
The editing team did a good job; I encountered zero errors while reading. There is nothing I dislike about this book to deny it a perfect rating. I hereby rate this book five out of five stars because of the likes mentioned above. I recommend it to children above ten years old and lovers of fast-paced books.
