Toni the Superhero, written by R.D. Base and illustrated by Debbie J. Hefke, was inspired by the author's family and is the first book in the series. The storyline follows a little boy named Toni, who keeps busy doing many things children enjoy during play and around the house when he is not too busy being a hero.

Beautiful and appropriate illustrations and short sentences for whatever activity Toni does will keep children focused. Young children who enjoy playing, swimming, having chores to do, singing and dancing, or eating their favorite foods, among other things, will relate to this book. I appreciate that the author included chores in this book because it introduces simple tasks to help children interact with their families. Another thing I like is that the page about eating showed only healthy foods. The sentences are easy for children to read and understand. Many of the pages teach children about diversity because all the children are from different nationalities. I enjoyed reading this children's book because it reminded me of the Dick and Jane books I read when I was a child.

This exceptionally well-edited book was enjoyable because it has no negative aspects. The illustrations are vivid and on-point with the topic at hand. This book's beautiful cover grabbed my attention at first glance, and I was not disappointed that I selected it. Therefore, I gave this enjoyable book 5 out of 5 stars. Anything less than a perfect score would have been an injustice because the author and illustrator did a fantastic job with this book.

This short book is appropriate for children under five years of age and is a great book to teach your children how to read. As a bedtime story, it takes less than five minutes to read, allowing time for discussions (e.g., the importance of eating healthy foods) before stopping for the night.
