Mouse Trax by M.H. Dixon tells the tale of a brave little mouse named Another Mouse. He was always a curious mouse, even teaching himself how to read. He read a great deal of books in his home, the library. He was especially curious about forests, which he had read about, and decided to sneak out. However, after following a butterfly, he realizes he is lost and has to find his way back home. Grab a copy of the book to read about his adventures as he befriends a louse, crosses swamps, accidentally awakens a Kraken, and more!

There were several things I liked about the book. The book was easy to understand and read. I felt that the author’s use of a prosimetrum (a poetic composition that uses both prose and verse) added a unique touch to the book. The author blends humor and meaningful values like the importance of friendship into the book, making it humorous and worthwhile to read. The book contains vivid and distinct descriptions of characters and scenery. My favorite character was the louse named One (short for One Louse Too Many). He was funny and clever and accompanied Mouse through his obstacles to find his way back home.

I didn’t find anything that I disliked about the book. It was a short and fun book to read, and I enjoyed it. A suggestion would be to add a few illustrations of Mouse’s adventures in the book to make it more visually appealing. Funny illustrations would also help hold children’s attention for longer and make the book more enjoyable. Furthermore, I barely noticed any errors, so I believe the book was professionally edited.

I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars for the reasons given above. Overall, Another Mouse’s adventures were delightful to read, and I would recommend the book to both kids and adults alike.
