[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Bedtime For Ella (A Giggly Furbottom Adventure)" by Goose in Gold.]
In Bedtime For Ella: A Giggly Furbottom Adventure by Goose In Gold, a young girl named Ella goes to bed one night and is surprised when a monster visits her at her bedside. Ella, of course, becomes scared like any child would. However, she musters up enough courage to confront her fears. The way Ella goes about this would surprise anyone reading the book. Giggly Furbottom, the monster in Ella’s room, turns out to be sweet and funny, and they end up having an adventurous night.
The book’s illustrations are incredibly detailed, the colors are vibrant, and the color scheme is cohesive. These attributes make the book visually appealing. I appreciate that Ella and Giggly Furbottom have many varying facial expressions. Also, the characters look adorable.
I like the font style used in the book; however, the writing would be easier to read if the font size and line spacing were bigger. The full-page illustrations are beautiful but take up too much space, making the text look like an afterthought. I recommend the author address these issues to improve the book’s readability. Despite this, the story is enjoyable because it is written entirely in rhymes. The playful and lighthearted tone of the rhymes is perfect for capturing the attention of young children.
This book teaches some important lessons. Ella’s attitude can teach children that being brave and open-minded can change something scary into a positive experience. Children can also learn that even if people look different, they can build relationships based on shared hobbies and humor.
This book is also perfect for children who are afraid of monsters at night or nighttime in general. Ella and Giggly Furbottom’s story might help them realize that bedtime, even with the possibility of monsters, is only as scary as they make it. Bedtime can be exciting and fun if they use their imaginations.
I enjoyed the book because of the lessons children can learn, the beautiful illustrations, the playful writing style, and the lovable characters. Considering these things, I give Bedtime for Ella: A Giggly Furbottom Adventure a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. I removed one star from my rating because the writing was difficult to read due to the small font size and small spacing between the lines. If a parent has a child with nighttime fears, such as monsters in their room or a fear of the dark, I recommend this book to help them overcome their fears.
