What did you do at school today? by C.C. Lacavera is a colorful children's book. The author explores several school topics, such as counting numbers, reciting the alphabet, creating art, and practicing music. Additionally, the author uses imaginative scenarios like sailing in a pirate ship and launching a rocket to the moon. The illustrations are beautiful and incredibly creative.

My favorite part of the book was the author's use of rhyme to connect different topics across pages. As the author moves through experiences, she connects them all by rhyming the last word of the sentence. The illustrations tie into the subject well and are very detailed and colorful. I imagine young children will enjoy looking at the pictures while reading the book. Also, the author finishes the book by prompting kids to tell their parents what they did at school that day, which is a great way to finish off a story!

I found nothing to dislike within this book. I appreciate the idea of a book that helps parents connect with their children after school and discover together what they did and how their day was. This book can also help parents continue their children's education at home by reviewing topics such as the alphabet and shapes.

I found no grammatical errors within this well-edited book, and there is nothing I would like to change about the book as a whole. I rate What did you do at school today? 5 out of 5 stars. I loved the imagination of the author to include fantastic experiences like climbing a rainbow and sailing on a pirate ship intermingled with real experiences that children will have at school such as music lessons or playing sports.

I recommend this book to parents of young children who have just entered school, as this story can help children and parents bond over their new experiences, as well as help refresh some of the topics they may have learned that day. For parents looking for a wholesome book with beautiful illustrations, look no further than What did you do at school today?
