Reading this short poem book made me feel happy and comforted. Most of the stories have touching narratives, and reading those types of stories makes me feel that way. I also had a lot of fun reading it; there were funny moments throughout, as well as just really happy ones that made it fun. I did read this with my 10-year-old daughter and she loved it, but she wasn’t willing to do most of the interactive poems in the book.
I give this book a 5/5 star rating, but I would recommend it for families with kids under 8 years old, as the stories are for a younger audience.

I thoroughly enjoyed these children’s Christmas poems. A variety of topics were wonderfully included: honesty, resilience, kindness, and giving. Such themes were included in poems like ‘Little Mouse and The Big Stocking’ and ‘B.K. The Working Dog And The Bert Kinder Mall’.
Each poem provides gentle lessons, which makes it a valuable book for parents or educators looking to instill positive values into kids’ minds. I particularly loved the dedications at the beginning of each poem, which highlighted positive character traits, for example: Dedicated to all who promote and show kindness. The poem that goes along with this dedication will then go on to tell a small story of how one can show kindness to others, especially during Christmas time.
As with almost all kids’ books, there are unrealistic aspects, such as animals, elves, Santa, doing things they might not normally be doing, which adds to the whimsical charm and imaginative appeal for young readers. Some of the poems are even interactive, asking kids to dance or count numbers in certain parts of the poem, for example, one poem says, For fun… have the listeners hold their nose every time ‘Stinky’ is said.
There aren’t a lot of illustrations throughout the book, but there are a few, usually at the beginning of each poem and sometimes an extra one in the middle of a poem.
The poems have a good balance, engaging stories without dragging out too long for young readers. The book comes with 25 main poems, but there are also 2 small bonus ones at the end that can be quickly finished.
So, if you’re looking for a book that’s fun and provides gentle lessons for your little ones, pick this one up, for Christmas time or any time, really.
