Sock Lobsters, written and illustrated by Michelle Bulriss, is a solid 5 out of 5 stars for any parent facing the daunting task of supporting a child through loss. Bulriss uses endearing illustrations to draw readers in as they journey through life and loss with Sebastian and Lola, the brother and sister sock lobster pair. When a loving grandmother decides to make a special pair of socks for her granddaughter, who knew that could bring such adventure, loss, and true friendship into the world? Sebastian and Lola look at life with two opposite outlooks. When they both face the frightening moment of loss in their lives, they are forced to begin looking at life in a new way. An unlikely hero emerges in the story who reminds readers that life is full of surprises, and help can come from even the most unlikely sources. You'll laugh and cry through this story of adventure, loss, and true friendship.
Bulriss finds a way to walk children through loss with love and patience while giving them hope for a better tomorrow. Parents can be reassured in sharing Sock Lobsters with their families as they travel through the many stages of loss.
