As a high school student reading Storm Chasing by Scott Withers, I actually found it really cute and well-done for its audience. It follows Cane the Weather Dog and his dad as they chase different types of storms through all four seasons. It’s clearly meant for younger kids, but it does a great job mixing fun with learning.

Two things I liked:
The concept of using a dog to explain weather is adorable and super engaging for kids.
The book introduces different types of storms in a way that’s simple but still accurate, which makes it a great learning tool.

Two things that were just okay:
The plot is pretty repetitive (each season has the same pattern, so it doesn’t really build much.)
As a teen reader, it obviously wasn’t super deep or challenging, but that’s expected since it’s made for younger kids.

Overall, it’s a fun and educational read for elementary-aged kids, and I think it would be perfect as a classroom read-aloud or for curious young readers who love weather.
