Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is the seventh book by R.F Kristi in the Serendipity Mystery children series. The author’s obsession with animals is what motivates her to write interesting stories on animals. The book’s central character is a Siberian cat named Inca. She is very detective and so she is the head of a London-based agency known as Inca and Company. She is equally the queen of kitties.

Inca, her mom and her siblings go on a vacation to Sri-Lanka. As they are enjoying their vacation, an ancient sword is missing in a museum back home. The Sri-Lanka trip presents Inca with an opportunity to make use of her detective skills and gives her the chance to solve this mystery of theft before the situation can get out of hand.

The author writes this book from a cat’s point of view. Personification of the characters adds taste to this story making it a must-read book. The story is moved to Sri-Lanka during the period of vacation and enables the author to add adventures and traditional practices of the Asian country. Bright and colorful pictures make this book very attractive to read. The author uses a simple language that many children will like to read.

Teamwork and socialism are emphasized in this book since Inca uses the unity of the members of the detective agency to solve the theft issue. She equally utilizes help from her new friends to solve this puzzle. I think that this is very vital in teaching children on the virtue of unity and socialism. Kristi introduces the characters making them familiar and easy to identify with.

I had only two major issues with this book. The first is that some pictures do not relate with the events taking place at the moment. The author’s inclusion of Inca’s encounter with dangerous animals such as the snake and the python can make children tense as they read the story. This tension can even make children experience scary dreams.

This book is appropriate to kids since it will teach them on the significance of unity and teamwork. Besides, children will also be encouraged to love and appreciate animals such as the cat. Children will equally be equipped with skills on how to write their own publications such as journals and diaries. This book is not only limited to children since even adults can opt to read and learn great lessons from this book. Since I didn’t find any grammar or punctuation mistakes, I believe that this book is professionally written and edited and so I gave it 4 out of 4 stars. Serendipity Mystery is a must-read book!
