Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R. F. Christi is a fun children's book about a cat named Inca, who runs a detective agency alongside her family and friends. At the onset of the story, we see Inca and he family vacationing in Sri Lanka and enjoying themselves after working for quite some time. However, during this time, a valuable sword goes missing from a museum, and so Inca and Company , the detective agency, sets out to solve the mystery with help from their newly-found friends, a sea turtle and an elephant. The book then proceeds to take the reader on an adventure-filled journey through Sri Lanka. However, the question still remains, will they be able to solve the mystery?

Being a children's book, I had to appreciate the adventure that the book took me on. It was very fun reading about the cats and how much fun they had with their new friends. The book was about adventure as much as it was about detective work. It took me back to childhod when I used to take life step by step and not worry about the bigger life questions. Which is quite ironical considering that this book is about detective work and cats that want to ask the biggest questions.

The personification was done so magnificently that if you substituted any cat's name in the book with a human name, the book would still flow naturally still maintain its original idea and meaning. This a plus to the author who devised and executed the personification . Choosing cats to be the personas of the story was also a wise choice because who doesn't love cats?
The theme of teamwork is well portrayed in th book which is a very wonderful thing considering that the audience of the book is children. This means that the kids who get to read this book will grow up knowing the value of teamwork as displayed by Inca and her fellow detectives. The detectives coordinate harmoniously to find the thieves. She also uses help from her newly-found friends.

The book is an easy read made more so by the pictures accompanying the story. This helps to maintain attention from the beginning to the end even by little kids whose attention span is usually quite low. Very basic English is used and the pictures show exactly what's happening which means that you cannot really get lost in the plot line . They (the pictures) are also very entertaining to look at.

I gladly rate this book 4 out of 4 stars as it has managed to achieve its objective entirely; that objective being to entertain and educate children. I highly recommend it to all parents who want to introduce their kids to the world of reading.
