I just had to look up the word serendipity; Wikipedia defines it as, “an unplanned, fortuitous discovery”. It states that the term was coined by Horace Walpole in 1754. With an artifact (ancient sword) missing, a jungle filled with hints; follow one wildcat detective on an adventurous journey as he aims to save a national treasure. In Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat, Inca the Siberian Kitty teaches young kids about different cultures and opens up their curiosity through exploration.
First off, I love the cover and the title. From helpful baby elephants to not-so-distant leopard cousins; children will learn to be helpful as they read about Inca getting help in a strange territory. This book is an excellent opportunity to educate kids about the unique customs that each country holds in pride, and how significant it is to uphold, preserve and respect diverse cultures. Kids will also learn the importance of teamwork as Inca does in order to save the precious part of history.
I wish to teach my kids' team spirit, and how to take pleasure in and honor new cultural experiences. My 6-year-old son loves animations and detective tales, so this is the perfect book for us. The author’s dogma of journaling done by Inca is fantastic, it reminds me of my teen years when I kept diaries. Each day brought with it surprises. The illustrations are well thought of and distinctive. The characters are all extremely charming, especially Fromage. I really liked the cats, their lingo, their playfulness and the joy they brought. The world is full of dangers but like Fromage, we all need to learn not to have a care in the world when chasing our dreams. It’s always better to work as a team; with different skills in play, jobs are done faster. “To be honest, it had been fun to work together—much more exciting than going it alone”.
This one is bound to make the young ones become adventure-enthusiasts, from valuable, old antique swords to beautiful temples, and caves with century-old, artifact. It’s rhythmic making it loads of fun while reading out loud. Inca overcoming her fears of being squashed like a bug or flattened like a pancake to ride on the big elephant teaches us to let go and live largely; courage is doing it afraid. It evokes a level of curiosity in the young minds, with questions in play such as: what's an antique? What does UNESCO stand for?
The author’s creativity is remarkable, to say the least; it’s not easy to play pretend humans, let alone varied animals. Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat will awaken the inquisitive nature of kids everywhere, and teach them to use their abilities positively.
In conclusion: It’s natural to extol the Inca Book Series. The books are cool, fascinating, and well-illustrated. They give an enormous deal of value. The characters are well developed. The narratives are intriguing, to say the least. The several cultural influences mentioned are authentic. I believe it’s significant for children to be taught about other countries and customs.
I found several errors which didn’t diminish the flavor of the book. In lieu of the enthralling storyline, I gladly rate this book 4 out of 4stars. I highly recommend this book to readers and especially young kids who enjoy fun adventures, mystery and detective work. Bravo to the author for this one.
