I can see this being interesting. I can also see how able could probably struggle with coming up with painting and original paint after copying other people work for years. I have heard of painters that only paint originals. I can tell I may get irritated reading it, if Nate is taking advantage of abel, and able has a mind of a child. It's good it has a little romance in the book as I like romance novels. I havent decided if I will try this one yet, but congratulations on BOTD.

As an artist who is now in a rough patch, I think I need to read this book. Abel's character seemed to be an annoyance but I hope it is written well. Also, it would have been helpful if you have laid out the author's writing style. Anyway, thanks for the recommendation and the review.

I'm a historical fiction fan, although I admit I'm not a be big fan of reading about people getting duped in any way. Still, it would be interesting to see inside the mind of someone who's great at copying master pieces and they decide if they are good enough to make their own paintings. Thank you for the helpful review.

Nice story. I love that the copyist had the build-up which enabled him to undertake the next challenge. Is this the reward from all the painfull experiences we encounter in this life? Some say in heaven life is even tougher. Nice review.

I agree with the reviewer that the author could have done better in character development to avoid the scenario of a forty-year-old man with a mind of a child. I love the aspect of art in the book.

I'm not really an art person, but the plot is nice. I'm open to reading this book.

A poor art forger's fortunes turn when he teams up with a curator. He copies many great works, which attracts the attention of unscrupulous businessmen, conmen, and gangsters.

A historical fiction, which talks about real-world artists and describes the life of a fictional character who is an artist, seems to be a thoughtful and uncommon read. I am not really sure if this is for me. Thank you for the review!

THE COPYIST by Jack Karasch is a historical fiction novel of a forty-year-old French man by name Abel Moreau whose source of income is shoe shining. Abel's business improve when he met Nate a curator of the Art Institute of Chicago, the story also contains romantic affair and that makes it more interesting for lovers of romantic novels.
