One Night With Finnbar by Leo D’Lance is a historical fiction. Martin had come from London to spend one week to conclude his entering into the "vaunted Royal Fusiliers." He ran into a boy called Finnbar. His intention to take Finnbar to London will be threatened by his cousin, Pierson. But he succeeded in taking Finnbar with him to London. On getting to London, Martin was waiting for his call up at White’s Gentlemen’s Club while Finnbar began working at the stables. Martin will have an encounter with Mattox, who requested one night with Finnbar just as a price for him to stay clear from Martin. There will be a twist in this historical fiction as "one night with Finnbar" will open another part of this book. Finnbar and Martin's life could take a new dimension.

Giving up on people is never the best option to take while aiming to change someone. I admire Martin's labor and persistence in making sure he took Finnbar, the stable boy, with him to London. Also, his endurance towards Pierson's attitude throughout his stay with his uncle speaks so much of how reserved he is. Another scenario was when Martin stopped by at the coffee shop. I love his composure to stay mute and not engage in any of the conversations in the coffee shop, even if it interests him.

I love the suspense this book brought. While reading, Abner's name kept on popping up. From where Martin saw a letter that dropped from his mother's favorite book, there was a question about who Abner was. This alone aroused my curiosity to know what effect Abner had made in Martin's life in the past and how it could drive the book's plot forward. This book portrays the state of a man's heart towards those he tends to love.

While reading, I wasn't quite satisfied that at some points, Finnbar was out of the picture. When Martin arrived at the White’s Gentlemen’s Club, the author concentrated mainly on Martin. This I found unpleasant because the book title captured "Finnbar." I just felt most of the events should have surrounded him. I don't think there's any other negative point.

I love that the "Court Transcript of Testimony of Finnbar" was included in this book. I think those in the legal field will enjoy this aspect of the book more. Also, lovers of crime thrillers would find this book worth reading. I found only a few errors while reading. The book seems professionally edited.

Overall, I will rate this One Night With Finnbar by Leo D’Lance 4 out of 4 stars. I love that it follows a serial arrangement of each event per day. This makes the book easy to understand. Due to the explicit content, I approve that only a mature audience should read the book.
