Picture yourself in the first-century Roman era, looking for answers about Yeshua and Yahweh (Hebrew for Jesus and God, respectively). Next, visualize meeting significant historical figures from Jesus's time, including the centurion who oversaw his crucifixion. I experienced the same awe and exhilaration while reading The Yellowhammer's Song: A First Century Roman Soldier Searches for Truth.

As the subtitle suggests, this historical fiction is about a soldier's quest to learn the truth about Jesus's crucifixion. Articus "Artie" Quintus grew up believing there were many gods, according to Roman teachings. As a bright, young Roman soldier, he revered Augustus Caesar as his lord and master. Consequently, when his commanding officer sends him on a mission to find a commoner fisherman, he is filled with mixed emotions of duty and bewilderment. What mysteries will Articus uncover while on this mission? Who will he meet? How will their stories impact his understanding of Yeshua and Yahweh? I invite all those who want to find the answers to these questions to grab a copy of this book.

When I first saw the book cover and title, I was slightly intrigued to know the relevance of the yellowhammer bird in the story. After reading the book's description, I was convinced I would immensely enjoy this story. The excellent narrative made my imagination come to life. It was incredible to have a close-up view of what could have transpired. Most of the characters, although fictional, were brought to life so beautifully that anyone would believe them. The kaleidoscope of emotions running through Articus's mind is truly relatable. The authors have beautifully captured Artie's wonder about the big questions in life, his disbelief and amazement at the accounts he heard, his sadness at the utterly poor treatment of Jesus, his excitement at having understood what he was looking for, his sweet journey to finding love, and the miracle of discovering the truth.

I honestly cannot think of anything that needs to change in the book. I applaud the authors, Jim Hammond and C. Grant Wolf, for creating this splendid piece of professionally edited work that I'm sure many will enjoy. Typically, I steer clear of historical fiction, but this book captivated me from the beginning and kept me reading until the end. As you can tell, I genuinely adored the story, and since there weren't too many errors, this book deserves 5 out of 5 stars.

As the entire book revolves around the Christian faith, followers and believers of Jesus will thoroughly enjoy this book. All who have heard the stories of Jesus Christ, his teachings, his life, and his death will relive those through the eyes of Articus. I will also recommend this book to lovers of historical fiction.

This work is unquestionably valuable to Christian believers. Deep down, I feel that all faiths seek to spread the same essential values. As a result, it would be of interest to spiritual non-religious followers as well as spiritual people from other religions. I'd want to commend you on your concise yet thorough evaluation.
