I don’t think tha this is the book for me. Even though I am interested in the interactions among the key players and their ethnicities here, I am not interested in hockey at all. There must have been some other way to connect the cultures. Thanks!

I don't think this book is up my alley, but it's got an interesting mix of topics and it seems to be a must-read for anyone who wants to know more about Canada and Canadian culture. I especially don't know enough about the Church there and how it operates - that might be worth looking into, at least, as your review hints at something going on beneath the surface. Thanks for writing this!

This is another very well-written and thorough review. I am impressed by the research you did to better understand the cultural, historical, and geographic context of this book. It sounds like a very interesting read, and I am glad to hear that you enjoyed it so much.

I agree that the book effectively focuses on the cultures and histories of Canadians and Americans. I appreciate that it offers a fresh perspective on Hockney, and I'm excited to delve into it. It's an interesting read, and I also want to learn more about Canada's history. If you're intrigued by historical fiction with a strong sense of place and well-drawn characters, "The Icy Cross" might be a great addition to your reading list.

This seems like a wonderful book to read, based on the review. I'm not sure about the hockey part, as some readers may not be that interested in sports; but I believe it adds to the story and may change one's outlook in sports, at least hockey.
