In The Wheel, Raymond K. Li crafts a riveting narrative around the secret of Emperor Yíng Zhèng’s death, with Zhào Gào’s audacious scheme to hide the rotting body and forge documents fueling a tense, treachery-filled power struggle.

Li’s skillful use of interwoven vignettes in The Wheel not only unravels political deceit but also humanizes iconic figures, creating a dynamic narrative that balances historical gravitas with personal drama.

"The Wheel" by Raymond K. Li sounds interesting, and I would love to learn about Emperor Yíng Zhèng’s rule and how he built the Great Wall of China. Congrats on BOTD!

Thanks for the review! This book covers one of China's most pivotal periods, including the reign of Emperor Yíng Zhèng, the first emperor of China, who ordered the construction of the Great Wall of China. I'm one of those unfamiliar with this period of Chinese history, and I'd like to change that.
