Wicked Angel by Shirl Henke

Post by akhreader »

The story is about Jocelyn Woodbridge a.k.a "Holy Hannah" by the ton. Jocelyn has an earl for an uncle and a methodist preacher fpr a father. She adores her father and helps him in his charitable work in the poor areas of London. She teaches and also volunteers as a nurse. Her focus in life is to help her father help people in need. She does not spend time on her physical appearance as her priorities are not as that of other ladies of the ton. One day in the London docks, Joss meets Alexander Blacktborne. She thinks he is the most handsome man that she has set eyes on and instantly falls in love with him. Alexander is part American Indian and is no angel. His mother is an English aristocrat and his father is part American Indian. Alex is sent to England by his parents to mend his reckless ways. Far from changing his ways, Alex spends his time gambling, drinking and women. He resents the ton and their pretensions, finding a friend in Joss, who he considers a brave intelligent friend. Due to circumstances beyond their control these two find themselves in a marriage of convenience.

The story is supported by a well riu ded set of characters that makes this an interesting read. The character of Drum, who is Alex's best friend is very well written and brings humor to the story. Alex and Joss must face many hardships and adversity brought on by their own pride and stubborness as well as others in order to have their HEA.
