A wonderful free book found on Smash for download. Classified as western, romance, and Christian. I enjoyed the book actually finishing it in two days. A great plot, with lots of characters and secrets.
Very heavy in bible verses and Christianity helping a young wounded lady with serious problems emotionally and physically after being brutally beaten and shot. She is delivered by her horse to a caring family on a beautiful cattle ranch. She falls in love with the eldest who is unbelievably patient with her distrust, injuries and amnesia while he is grieving the loss of his mother and running the ranch.
Her memory returns in pieces and she not only is fearful of the man that attacked her but also the fear that she will be rejected by her love as her background is revealed. Her memory has great gaps and she finally remembers that she had killed one of the two that had attacked her sister as they were traveling.
Meanwhile while she is recovering her sister and famous uncle are searching for her. The girls grew up with a alcoholic abusive father in poverty. The entire ranch kept urging her to turn to God but she felt deserted by him. With her amnesia she required about a month to regain some hints of her past.
With a great Christian sheriff miles away searching for her at the urging of her family they are finally reunited. Turns out the sheriff and the rancher are childhood friends. Unfortunately both sisters are abducted, beaten and held for ransom by the criminal they had escaped from. Searching saves them before the planned execution.
With some confusion both realize that they love each other and marriage is arranged. Credit to God is given throughout the book. I certainly enjoyed reading it and highly recommend it for those interested in the Western days. The Celtic cross is a necklace that was from her Irish mother and the rancher is also part Irish. She was a horse whisper and had supported them by pretending to be a man because many believed that a female could not do the job.
