The Nightingale by Kirsten Hannah

Post by Bookfanatic12 »

The Nightingale is a intriguing novel of two sisters living in France during World War II. The novel portray the difficulties and challenges of women during WWII and how differently women experienced and reacted as WWII progressed. Kirsten Hannah captures the hardship of women without food or money or hope but making impossible decisions to keep their families alive. A beautiful tale of two sisters who each follows their own path, keeping secrets from each other and their families to survive in a German occupied and war torn France. Throughout the book I was captivated and shocked at the monstrosities that women endured during WWII. I could not put the book down until I had finished it.
