I really enjoyed this book. It intrigued and was very well written. I enjoyed the way the characters were portrayed and the reasoning behind the Red Tent were interesting.
This is the story of Dinah, who was the daughter of Jacob and Leah. When a woman of Biblical times reached puberty, she entered the Red Tent. It was in this tent she stayed when her period began, when she was introduced to marital sexual practices and when she was about to deliver a baby. It spans her life from her birth to her death. It's worth reading. I haven't viewed the movie yet, but I would like to see it.

This book is set in biblical times and tells the lost story of Dina. It weaves an interesting tale of how she was born, her father's family, the lives of his 4 wives, all of her brothers and sisters, while still being able to tell her story as well. The details of the environment are not quite vivid, but the details of the day-to-day chores, feelings of being a "sister" wife, and desires of that time are amazing. I read this book in one sitting, it was a great read!
