This is a book from the historical fiction genre, a true story about the unsung heroes of WWII. A son in his seventies learns that his late father had served in the war. An inspiring account of what transpired many years ago during WWII. A wonderful piece of history brought to life by the author and shared with us. Kudos to the author. Thanks for an outstanding and detailed review.

:tiphat: I don't have a love for World War II novels, but I to have a love for historical fiction. I especially enjoy characters like Lily who put their lives on the line for something they believe in. Things to your wonderfully written review you look peaked my interest and I may read it.

I love historical fiction and this book sounds like it will be amazing. I’m sure there are untold stories of help received by Allied soldiers to evade imprisonment in occupied countries. Even if this book wasn’t a work of fiction, I don’t doubt it could have some truth to it. Definitely one I’ll read.

Thanks for your review! It must have been quite a discovery for him to find out his father was a B-17 bomber pilot. I'm curious to find out how Lily was able to help the fallen Allied soldiers and aid in their escape from Belgium. The repetition and shifting timeline would have also bothered me.

This sounds like a unique take on WWII using an airman's diary to launch the story from was brilliant. I'm not much on war novels or historical fiction, but I'm sure that those who like the genre will enjoy it greatly. Thanks for the review!

The book describes how a woman, Lily, helped hundreds of downed airmen over Belgium during WWII to escape the Nazis. This story brings to light what many Belgians did to rebel against the German occupation to help their allies. You wrote a very good review.

I love historical fiction but I'm a sucker for romance. I would go for Lily falling in love with one of the soldiers. Great review.

I will be happy to read this novel that discusses some aspects of WW2. I especially admired the woman code-named Lily as she sought to save as many Belgian soldiers as possible from capture by the Germans. Nice review.

Rescuing American and Canadian airmen who were shot down out of the sky on Belgium ground is a historical fiction book I'm looking forward to reading. It seems as though little details like these have been lost and need to be brought to light. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this review, thanks!

This seems to be a well-written historical fiction. Since I am not a fan of war stories, I may skip this. But, it can be a good recommendation to those who love them. Congrats on BOTD!

Sounds like a good choice, making this a botd.
The review was detailed enough to intrigue readers. Having read a sample, I also noticed a bit of repetition, but I didn't really mind, either.
