Lately I have been losing interest in war stories. This one sounds like a good book. Maybe I just need to be in the mood for it. Great review.

I, too, am a fan of historical fiction. Thank you for mentioning that it is a "clean" book. I am glad that the writer did not need to resort to using foul language to make the story authentic as some writers do.

This was a wonderful review of a heart-wrenching historical event told in a fictional way. The cruelty of the Nazis is a horrendous theme in the history of the world. My 4 grandparents moved from the Netherlands in the late 1800s but I have many relatives still living there. Thus I'm very intrigued by Dutch historical novels, and I'm looking forward to reading this one!

The Weeping Woman of Putten by Alyce Bailey seems an information novel. People always want to know about the Nazis, though it is history, not at all boring. Congratulations on #botd.

I like how the author allows readers to peep into the Hitler/Nazi history through the lens of her experience.
Great job, Alyce

Historical fiction isn't a genre that I'm all that interested in, so this book isn't something I'd necessarily read. It does sound like an informative and engaging book though so I'd recommend it to those historical fiction lovers.

Dutch native here. I wonder if this book was written in English or translated? The Amazon sample reads strangely for me, all set in Holland with Dutch characters, but written in English. I am a bit tired of WWII historical novels, so I'm giving this a pass. It seems well written and researched though.

This seems to be a very thorough review over a major time of uncertainty for many. I think that the story definitely reflects that the Nazi army, (as well as Hitler himself) attacked weaker, smaller communities in attempts to prove their strength. The endurance of the men to survive seems almost unimaginable. I like the picture additions because they add a look at the past.

Janneke, a nurse, as well as a resistance courier, tells the story of one of the largest Nazi crimes in the Netherlands toward the end of World War 2. Historical fiction always teaches valuable lessons about the futility of war. Thanks for an interesting review!

A very interesting book so far; it really captures the reader's attention as soon as you start reading. It also helps me to imagine what it was like, from the adventurous, heart-racing start.

Thank you for the review. Being heavy on the emotion makes it difficult to read.

I enjoy historical fiction when the fictional characters are well developed, and the plot takes me back in time, so I feel like I am living there. I would like to read this book if I get a chance. Thanks for the wonderful review!
