I learned from Amazon that this book has reaped critical acclaim. I am intrigued. As it comes free today, the decision to read it is easy to make. I like the name Amora. Love (amor) is the answer to most of life's questions.

A story of conversion from hundreds of years ago. Sounds like an endearing piece of historical fiction. Great review!

'Official Review: Amora' by Grant Hallstrom has a thorough introduction! The character of the historical personality Amora has been well sketched out in the review! The point that the central theme of the book is choosing between forgiveness and revenge is worth mentioning in the review! Also, the point that the story explores the reasons that bad things happen to good people and the greater purpose of difficult times is remarkable in the review! Nice to learn that the book is a thought-provoking read!

I think it is worth finding out if Amora can forgive the person who killed her child, considering she is now religious. Thanks for the detailed review and recommendation.

After her daughter was murdered, Amora’s family fell into disarray. Amora had to navigate through feelings of grief, vengeance, and ultimately, forgiveness. This book that is set in Rome at a time of religious persecution sounds promising.

This sounds like an emotional and deeply thought-provoking novel centered during a very dark and bleak period of time for Christianity. I usually enjoy historical fiction and look forward to reading Amora. Thank you for such an excellent review of this book.

I love historical fiction and one based on religious feuds is definitely a welcome read. Thanks for the recommendation.

I didn’t connect with the sample pages as well as I would have liked, but your review has convinced me this book is worth the read. I look forward to reading about Amora and Leo’s life and choices. Thank you for an excellent review!

This story takes place at a time when Christians were persecuted for their beliefs and shunned by their non-Christian friends. Amora lost her beloved daughter to murder and her husband Leo became very distant and wanted revenge. Amora became a Christian and as her faith in Jesus Christ increased her willingness to forgive also increased because she believed she would see her daughter again in the future. This had to be a very difficult time to live due to the Romans prosecuting Christians but it was also a time when Christian faith in Jesus Christ made these people stronger and would sacrifice their earthly lives for eternal happiness in Heaven.

I don't typically have any interest in Christian fiction, but this sounds far less cookie-cutter than anything I've read before. Thanks for a great review. I will have to check this out.

Thanks for your review. Looks like by borrowing the Roman setting and Amora's misfortune, the book is trying to convey some of Christianity's teachings.

It’s interesting to know that this book captures true-life events. Which makes it thought-provoking, indeed. As a fan of historical fiction, I’m willing to read Amora.

I'm Christian, too, but reading about this, between choosing revenge and forgiveness for a murderer, it's a moral dilemma, not just for Christians. Christians aren't the only ones able to forgive, everyone can, it's a choice, and so is religion. This book, or the review at least, seems really self-righteous, thought-provoking? I didn't like it, especially because of its religious themes. I don't care for the mystery, I don't care for the title character either, they just don't interest me.
