Ancient Rome as a novel’s setting is very interesting and I’m looking forward to digging into this book to find out what will be the fate of Lucius as he aspires to be in the emperor’s government despite his family’s history with the ruler.

The intrigue and scandal in this slice of history seem to revive interest in ancient Rome. Congratulations on Book of the Day!

It greatly surprised me to read a review of a book of such content and it turned out to be of a short story genre. Tales of Rome should be a voluminous kind. However, it's a comfort it came to us this way,"... concise and direct." Beautiful, excellent job! I love every bit of the review. I'm sure I'm going to read this one...

I just want to read after I read this review. This historical fiction sounds intriguing, I can't but imagine what the Emperor might decide to do to Lullus. Great review

Thanks for your review. Unfortunately, ancient Rome is not really my cup of tea, especially with Lullus's father's adultery and the political aspect.

This book sound a real good package but I’m not a fan of political books. Great review though! I love your simplicity.

I'm not sure I would enjoy this book. Historical fiction, particularly concerning the Roman Empire, is something I know nothing about and have little interest in reading about it. However, it sounds like the author has done an excellent job developing characters. Thanks for the informative review.

Lucius' character appeals to me. He appears to be concentrated and driven. I'm particularly interested by the plot, which appears to be a mix of suspense and thriller, despite the fact that it is historical fiction. I'll be adding this book to my collection, and your review is excellent.

Thank you for a great review! I'm curious as to what is Lucius's view on his father's affair with the emperor's daughter, Julia and if that has an impact on if the emperor decides to back him on politics or not. Ancient Rome politics has always been one of the most talked-about historical topics, and I would enjoy how the author portrays the famous emperor Augustus. Since it's a short story with an open-end ending, I wonder if I will be able to take the suspense of mystery left?
Looking forward to reading. Congrats for being the BOTD!

Your review touched on a lot of important things about this book, That was very insightful. I thought it was great that you mentioned the fact it is a short story and that it does indeed include a borderline graphic scene. You did a great job of alluring my interest, I'm definitely going to have read 'Two Faces of Janus: A Short Story of Ancient Rome'! But I think that you could have merged the last two paragraphs into now longer one. But overall I think this was a really well-written review and had a great amount of information!

As someone who enjoys historical fiction and has read a few number of books about the ancient Greeks, this is my type of book. This review actually captures the format of the style in which the book was written, that is in it's precision and clarity. Bravo!
