Your review is thought provoking. The rhetorical questions in the first paragraph would prick everyone to want to read to read this book. Historical fiction storylines are not my cup of coffee. I will therefore recommend this book to historical fiction lovers. Congratulations to the author on BOTD selection.

I will read to know what Captain Jeffrey Chadwick and his wife discovered as they made their way to rest in their supposed new home. "Their Winter Burn" by Mary Ann Trail looks interesting.

I like how complex the author can make the plot despite their simple writing style. Enjoying this lord.

I haven't read the book, but the review of the book seems like a mystery, as the reviewer wasn't even able to uncover the mystery. I'm intrigued in wanting to have a first read of this book. Untill then, congrats on the book of the day.

I don't know what to think about this book. At first, when I saw the book cover, I thought it was a romance book then after reading about it I realized it is a historical mystery. It sounds more like a ghost novel to me though.

I only read a sample and I noticed the author’s writing style right away too! It was so good, I really enjoyed it. It made the reading experience that much more enjoyable. Can’t wait to read the rest after reading this review!

I didn't expect that. The cover does indeed resemble a romance novel. A terribly shocking revelation in a historical mystery is always intriguing. and the suspenseful plot made me curious enough about the rest the story. This would be an exciting read. Thank you for your commendable review.

I’m curious as to the novel’s shocking revelation Captain Jeffrey Chadwick discovered about the house they are interested in. Will he be successful in his business in this new community and how will he face the challenges in a new environment? Only one way to find out! Let’s read this!

Historical fiction and a murder mystery; always a great combination. The author has a great writing style and is able to build an affinity with the characters and their household quickly. I also liked the language used; it's been ages since I've seen a description of ‘flaxen hair’ used.

Wow, an intriguing story and a great review. Good to know that this is actually the historical mystery that unfolds in the first chapters, rather than the romance novel suggested by the cover. I loved the details of life in Boston in the 1800s, as I'm always fascinated by such things, and it really brought me into the story.

I really enjoyed your review. I agree with you. I hate it when a book goes into details that are unnecessary and boring. It takes away from the joy of reading the book.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting historical mystery following a family of immigrants that have just moved to Boston in order to start a new market in the wine trade. However their new house may be more than just what it seems. What do they find waiting for them when they finally go inside? It might be worth a second look. Well done.

From the sample I read, I think this is a really interesting mystery novel. I like how the mystery begins to unfold right from the start of the story, it really draws the reader in. You've written a nice review here. I do hope the parts you found repetitive within the book won't bore me though.
