I don’t normally read historical fiction, but the two brothers sound like interesting characters and the narrative tone has a dry wit. Thank you for choosing to review this book.

A adventure undertaken by two brothers in the jungles of South America seems interesting.

Thank you for the great review.

I'm not so enlightened about the rubber boom era and I don't seem interested in this, but I'm going to keep this book because I know there's always something to learn in every book.
Congrats, Joan, on #BOTD.

I love books that shades light on the bond between members of a family, that inseparable and dying love. I think this book did just that.

I like a historically accurate book with an emotional heart. The idea of the focus being on two brothers who foil each other, by being opposites, is really appealing to me. Characters who foil each other by being so different often times bring out how their differences also make them similar. I like the concept. It helps that I'm a sucker for jungle stories or rainforest stories. While I'm not typically a fan of historical fiction, I'll have to check this one out. Thanks for your review!

A historical fiction exploring the rubber boom through two brothers' adventure to Brazil sounds intriguing. It is also the first book in this trilogy. I look forward to this series. Thanks for the great review!

It is amazing to realize that rubber has been around for a century already. Thank you for your review, it makes me want to read it even more. I can definitely say that I am not one to have wanted to go to South America during this time period except through the pages of a book. I like historical novels as long as there is a bit of adventure.

I am looking forward to learning about the rubber boom as I knew nothing about it. Joan Schweighardt has done a great job with the descriptions as they draw you into the story. I can't wait to read the entire trilogy.

I had never heard of the rubber boom before reading this review. The adventure plot line sounds very interesting. The title just draws me in like I have to know what happened “Before We Died”. I would definitely read this book.

The title is definitely intriguing. Does this mean the brothers died somehow after their adventure in South America? I've read about the boom of rubber industry but I never paid much interest to it. The historical part of this book is something I will look forward to reading as well.
