While I am not a "history buff" like you mentioned, the premise of the story still sounds appealing. The character traits of those named characters in the review make for a fun read. Add the action to that and there's potential to satisfy even those who are not big fans of history.

This review makes the book sound like a gripping blend of real history and creative fiction. I’m intrigued by the idea of Truman leading a secret mission against Hitler—such a bold twist on known events. Sounds like a great read for fans of historical thrillers!

I’m not really a lover of historical fictions but this sure promises to be an interesting one. I would pick this in my spare time, it would either be a hit or a miss for me. Congratulations on being BOTD.

I am actually unaware of the actions of President Truman against Adolf Hitler, but your review has helped me gain a good understanding of these. I would like to read more about "Operation Louveterie." It is exciting to know the author took enough time to introduce the major characters in this story; this way, readers can better connect to them and the activities they embark on.

The Last Rival: A Time of Our Choosing by Kyle Palmer is a high-stakes historical espionage thriller set in the aftermath of World War II. It follows two covert operatives Jim Bolden and Lew Weinman tasked with hunting down remnants of the Nazi regime across Europe and South America, particularly in Argentina.

I would surely give this book a read although I'm not big on history and war. However, the review makes it sound like an excellent story apparently based on real facts and a US president.

I share your enthusiasm with historical stories and WW2 is possibly one of the most happening periods of modern history with the entire world order laid on its outcome. I look forward to the book.

I just love historical novels. Although they fiction I firmly believe there is a lot of truth behind them. This one sounds right up my ally, as I enjoy fictional novels that set during the Hitler reign. Definitely reading this soon. Well done to a great review. Congrats on BOTD and thanks for the free book.

You did a great job; I certainly will read the book... your writing style is perfect. As I am also a history lover, I will surely read this book. One thing you can do is also mention critiques about it. What did you not like? Otherwise, good job.

Kyle Palmer skillfully weaves history and suspense in The Last Rival: A Time of Our Choosing. I like reading this book. Set after WWII, the story follows two American agents tracking down fugitive Nazis. This is amazing. With sharp detail and emotional depth, Palmer delivers a gripping, humanized thriller that’s both tense and thought-provoking.

This review brilliantly shows how historical fiction can deepen our reflections on real events. I found the character complexity especially intriguing—Von Fischer’s ambiguity suggests a deeper moral tension I’d love to explore. I’ve added The Last Rival to my reading list and can’t wait to dive in.
