Continuation of yesterday's book of the day. War stories have never been my thing, and I'm not about to start them now.

So the second book is out and it's starting with a new story? That just means the first one is not a cliffhanger! Great news, indeed! The duo is facing human traffickers this time. I would love to read more on their adventure. Thank you for your review!

I was immediately intrigued by the novel, but I thought that it would be a historical fiction novel based off of the title. I was very happy to read that it was a mystery novel which is a genre that I love. I agree that the awkward dialogue and lengthy explanations are good for writing, but a poor choice for speaking. I love the cover art and the fully developed characters.

Human trafficking is such a dastardly act which has become rife over the years. I am glad that you enjoyed the book and so sorry that you did not enjoy the dialogue. Thank you for your very thorough review.

I loved this review. Thanks for being thorough and going through all the emotions you had while reading it. Most people would downplay the role of dialogue or a lot of it but thankfully, you mentioned it. This does sound like a great book from the concept behind it to the execution. I will read it.

A crime mystery novel set in Australia right after the end of World War II. I would definitely like to continue reading this second book in a trilogy that started with The Warramunga's War.

I have always wanted to visit Australia and this would be a nice read to introduce me to my dream destination. I like the prospect of adventure as well. I do find human trafficking distasteful though. Thanks for a well-written review. Cheers!

Absolutely very detailed in explanation.Even though i've read books with similar titles, this particular one by kislany stands out in the sense of creating imaginary pictures in the mind of any reader.

Thank you for a great review. This doesn’t sound like a book that I would want to read, especially if the dialogue is off. There is nothing that can ruin a book faster in my opinion.

It's interesting that they had their experience with trafficking in human beings in that post-WWII era - I think of it as a scourge that started later in the 20th century, for some reason. Jacko's amazing skills - here, his tracking skills - are clearly important in this series. I did notice that issue with the dialogue in the sample for the first book, actually, when Jacko recounted his family history with remarkable composure considering he was standing in the middle of a war zone. He's exceptional, but still, as you say, no one talks like they write.

The second book in the trilogy and the story sounds equally captivating. Our heroes are hunting a child trafficking ring. The adventure is thrilling and edge of the seat action. Can't wait to get a copy...

This almost sounds like 2 stories in one. It's too bad about the dialogue. I'm not sure I would particularly enjoy this one anyway, so I think I'm going to take a pass on this one. Thanks for the information, though. I always appreciate your reviews. :techie-studyingbrown: :tiphat:

An intriguing review that entices the reader with multiple interests. Friendship, history, mystery and a romp through Australia. The plight of the children and human trafficking is also a big draw these days. Just the kind of book to would like to spend an afternoon in the shade with. I am adding it to my "want to read" list. Thank you.

After the world war II, there are crime investigations to be carried out against pedophiles. Child trafficking is a menace even today. I wonder how the mystery will be resolved now that some children have been discovered in the sea.
