I love historical fiction, especially during World War II. The setting of South Africa and Iris' story intrigues me. I can't wait to read this!

I love the World War II setting of the book. The theme of forbidden love and romance makes it even more endearing.

This historical fiction that takes place during World War II sounds breathtaking. I definitely plan to read this book and love the idea of a love story taking place with characters who are on opposite sides of the war. Congrats on the book of the day! Great review!

It is interesting to know that South Africa had Italian POWs during the Second World War. The other thing I can pick is romance involving the prisoner and the captors.

Great to hear the editing errors have now been corrected! I have downloaded my copy of today's BOTD, and I'm looking forward to seeing Iris and Pietro's love blossom. Thank you for your helpful review - I'll definitely keep in mind what you said about the beginning dragging on a bit and make sure to keep reading. Thank you so much! :-)

I am so pleased to read that the errors have been picked up and corrected. I live a good war story. I don't think I've read one set in South Africa before so I would really like to experience the landscape and culture there during this period. I also love a forbidden love story. This book had me thinking of a Ken Follet novel I've read previously and loved.

Will be adding this to my 'to read' shelf immediately.
You know you’ve read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend.

I also never really think about the effects WW2 had on places like South Africa and am really interested in hearing more about it in this book.

I don't really enjoy reading about world war II and historical fiction, so I'll have to pass. Thank you for sharing this, and I will make sure to recommend it others who would enjoy it!

This sounds like an excellent WWII story and I like the fresh take on it viewing the war from South Africa and the aftereffects. I'm glad you enjoyed the book. Great review!

The book cover is very attractive and alluring. While, the plot is common, the review somehow makes the book mysterious and pulls the reader to immerse himself into the book.

Based on the review, I don't think this is the book for me. I am not a fan of war books and it seems like the story dragged on at times and there were some significant editing issues. I'll pass on this one.

There’s always more to learn about everything. I didn’t know there were POW camps for Italians in South Africa.

Thanks for the review - like yourself, I never think of South Africa when I think of WWII, and this novel seems like a good chance to learn something whilst enjoying the fictional story.

If I were to read this book, it would be for the quest to ascertain just how possible it is to have a genuine romantic relationship amidst much hate as it was with world war II. Love amidst hate? Ironic!
