This seems to be a superb follow-on from Apollo’s Raven. The author is fabulously descriptive, vividly capturing a time in history when power, honour mysticism and superstition ruled the day. Anyone who enjoys historical fantasy will love this!

Self-discovery, strong personalities, romance, and fantasy. I'm all for it. Hopefully, it lives up to your hype. Nice review.

Love, loyalty and politics, with some erotica, too. This is not my genre, but I might have to check out this trilogy. I love how you described (above in a response) the way sexuality was handled, more as erotica. You have written another beautiful review. I enjoyed reading your introduction to this book very much.

The review is spot on. Set in a time so long gone that it is amazing that it can be brought back like this. Ancient history, politics, war, and love all together to make an amazing story.

There was a time when I probably would have loved this book, or at the least enjoyed it, but that was when I was still a teenager. Impossible love, wars, Celtic princesses...it would have been just the thing. I get so impatient with this kind of book these days. They just don't capture my interest. But thanks for the review.

I like the genre fantasy but I read the first book and hated it. The only thing that I enjoyed was reading about the love between Catrin and Marcellus. I don’t think I would enjoy reading the second book even if I was curious enough to want to know what happens with their relationship.

Reading your beautiful review seemed to me like watching it in the movies already. I can't wait to read, beginning from the first volume in the series. Tanks for a good job.

I'm glad to read that the reviewer liked the second book so much. I also read the first book in the series and was wondering whether the second book would keep the same momentum. The multiple narrative threads are one of my favorite parts about reading the first book and I'm Linnea Tanner didn't drop them to follow only one plot line.

Dagger's Destiny by Linnea Tanner is the sequel or Book 2 to Apollo's Raven, a tale of forbidden love between a Celtic warrior princess and a Roman soldier at a time when Rome threatens to invade an ancient British kingdom. As in Apollo's Raven, there's magic, fantasy, myth, suspense, adventure and drama in Dagger's Destiny. I expect that Catrin's humanity will clash with her strong sense of duty in this book as she decides what to do with her love affair with Marcellius. I believe that ultimately she will choose honor and duty because she's a leader. For those who have finished Apollo's Raven, they will surely not miss this one. Reviewer cristinaro does not hesitate to rate Dagger's Destiny 4 out of 4 stars as she did Apollo's Raven, saying: "Not only did the novel meet my expectations, it also by far exceeded them... It is not an easy job to master the multiple narrative threads, but Linnea Tanner succeeds in keeping everything in control and adding unexpected twists and turns of the plot." Cristinaro continues to be impressed by Tanner's ability to create an ancient Celtic kingdom in Britannia and bring to life the Roman empire through her words. She gives readers a throbbing fictional universe based on history and rich with details from ancient Celtic myths and Roman culture.
