The premise of this book sounds emotional and engaging; it raises some interesting questions about those who fell during World War I. This historical fiction seems to be worthwhile and with a well-developed storyline. Thank you for your limpid review!

A book set during WWI is right after my heart. I would like to see how Katy survives the war.

Thank you for the great review.

A beautifully written review. I agree with you, it's always difficult to have to knock a star off the rating due to editing issues. I've found myself in that position too.
I enjoy reading historical novels, and World War I is a subject that doesn't get covered enough. I believe I will enjoy this book too.

It's a pity that the book isn't well edited since I'd like to read it. I love historical fiction, especially if it's about WW I or II.

The book sounds exciting and Katy's life seems interesting and poignant, but historical fiction was never my cup of tea. Besides these slight gory details and the descriptions of blood and injury are not to my taste. Still I'm sure the book will find its reader as there are lots of lovers of World Wars periods and people will definitely love it. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

I love historical fiction and think it's a great idea for the author to explore those seldomly examined areas, like the worth of what claimed the lives of so many during the First World War. Too bad the missing commas resulted in a lost star. Thanks for sharing this review.

This sounds like a good book to read. A poignant story dealing with a war that to this day is a mystery for why it really started. This book is also the first in the series. Great review!

I quite enjoy reading fiction about historical events, but I must admit that war stories or that taking time during wars are totally not my cup of tea. Unfortunately, this book is just the such case, despite great review and good comments.

I love romantic novels set in this time period, and this sounds like just the type of story I would enjoy. Your review was very straightforward and informative and so, in spite of the grammar issues, I think I’ll give this one a try.

A story which starts a little before the beginning of the war 1 and continues until the war is over, and it is nicely presented in the book "Daffodils" by Alex Martin. The story follows Katy, who lives in a sleepy village and face incredible suffering during her marriage with Jem, who later volunteers to go fight in the war. The reality of war is nicely depicted in this book.
