This is definitely a solid plot and sounds like the fusion of historical fiction and crime thriller. Though, the crime seems to be the main theme here, driving the plot further. The book would also be a good read for those interested in North American culture, and it may have something interesting to tell about the culture, especially as it's set in the late 1870s. Thank you for the well-written review.

A young man from a wealthy family is attending medical college. He decides to cheat on exams. He's discovered by the professor. The young man attempts to cover up the deed by committing arson at his professor's cottage. Then the young man's father comes up with a plan to delay his son's punishment. Or is it really a delay of punishment? This might be worth reading.

Thank you for such a detailed review. A good review is invaluable when trying to decide what to read next and knowing this one has a strong plot and relatable characters, I can forgive a few misplaced commas!!

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting historical fiction about two medical students that drop out of medical school because they cheated on an exam and wanted to avoid being expelled. As a result, they ultimately decide, after being told, to join the Mounted Police. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

It sounds like an interesting novel with an enthralling plot, but I am not one for unhappy endings. I tend to avoid them like the plague, so I will pass on this one. I enjoyed reading your review. Thanks!

What a nice cover up... i just hope it won't get them in trouble later. Because no matter what, there are always consequences for committing crime. Great review.

I don’t feel good reading a book where kids burn their professor’s house to hide a petty crime. But your review is thorough. I would like to find out if they both get caught. I wish they did.

Two wrongs don't make a right... I wonder how the story ends and if James and Stephen atoned for their wrongdoing. Intriguing storyline and one for my reading list.

I like reading historical fiction and this plot seems to be interesting. As you said, I don't like sad endings. So I'm not sure whether I should read the book or not. But, after reading your review, I feel like I might regret not reading it. Anyway, I'm adding it to my shelves. And thanks a lot for such a nice review!

Official Review: Atonement to a Greater God by Dan Martin is an enriching and informative one! The plot of the story is solid and well-thought! I like the reviewer's comment that the story would have ended satisfactorily without a bit of tragedy!

Based on your summary, I am intrigued by how James' and Stephen's crime would turn out since they joined the police. I hope to read it soon.

This story's Canadian setting might bring up some terminology or places I'm unfamiliar with, but the plot itself sounds intriguing, especially with it being set in the days of primitive medicine and wilderness survival of the late 1800s. Look forward to checking it out.
